New Drivers
A newly qualified driver is subject to a probationary period for two years beginning with the day on which he became a qualified driver.
If you are a probationary driver and if you accumulate 6 points on your licence within the first two years of passing your driving test, you will receive a notice from the DVLA in Swansea revoking your entitlement to drive on a full licence. The date on which the licence is due to be revoked will be set out in the notice sent to you.
A way of avoiding revocation is to ask for a short disqualification rather than penalty points, so you will remain below 6 points. Also, calculating how many points that you have is not as straightforward as you might think and therefore a solicitor should be consulted.
